Erwin Library Videos

WCC Single Search - this discovery service is your gateway to thousands of digital videos (or streaming videos):

  • Search for digital videos to view individually, or in a classroom, or to link to in an email or Moodle class page, using the WCC Single Search box and a topic or keyword search  
  • Use the Select Database Links drop-down menu found on the right side of any WCC Single Search Results page for direct database access to all of the video databases, if desired (Hint:  go to the bottom of the list for the Videos category)

WCC Bison Single Search

To find a Streaming  Video by Keyword (or topic) on the Erwin Library website:

  • Enter a Keyword search (a single word, phrase, or combination of search terms, with no punctuation) into the WCC Bison Single Search box, in this example, "phlebotomy"
  • NOTE:  Films on Demand and Alexander Street Press are the major Content Providers for streaming videos in the WCC Bison Single Search;  you may also search each of these resources using direct database links found on the A-Z List page or from the Direct Database Links listed above in this guide
  • Have your Erwin Library barcode number ready to use as a login at the Remote User Access page prompt 

  • Confine your Search Results list to the preferred video databases using the Refine Results menu options:
    • Click the Show More link at the bottom of the Content Provider menu to open a Content Provider menu box
    • Click inside one or all three of the video streaming resources listed in the Content Provider menu box, using the Films on Demand checkbox or the Alexander Street Press checkbox, then the Update button to generate a revised Search Results list

  • View a video from the Search Results list entries by clicking a View record at Films on Demand link below an entry (as in this example. or similar one, such as a Full Text from Alexander Street Press link) 

  • Permalink the video to access it again later:
    • Click the Share link below the viewing window to open an Share To menu box
    • Click the Embed/Link tab in the Share To menu box
    • Click the Copy button to capture the URL inside the Record URL box (for Films on Demand videos)
    • Or, click the Embed/Link link below the viewing window to open a Permalink box, then highlight and Copy the entire URL inside the Permalink box (for Alexander Street Videos)

  • Cite the streaming video in your References or Bibliography page:
    • Click the Cite link below the video viewing window (in Films on Demand videos) or at the top of the viewing window (in Alexander Street videos)
    • To open a Citation menu box
    • Choose your citation style and click on that tab, in this example from Films on Demand,  it's APA
    • Highlight and Copy the citation
